Back in September, The Merced FOCUS reported on a newspaper started by inmates at Central California Women’s Facility, “The CCWF Paper Trail.”

The prison, which is located about 30 minutes south of Merced in California’s San Joaquin Valley, also opened a media center last year.

Recently, our partners at the Central Valley Daily podcast visited the prison and met with Paper Trail Editor-In-Chief Amber Bray and Managing Editor Kanoa Harris-Pendang.

The interview with the editors can be heard by clicking the audio player at the top of this story. During the interview, Bray and Harris-Pendang talk about how the paper started and the imporant role it plays in the lives of those incarcerated at the facility.
