The Merced County Board of Supervisors is set to hire Dr. Kristynn Sullivan as the Public Health Director, according to the agenda for Tuesday’s regular meeting.
The board will take two different votes, one in closed session and one in open session, on the public health director’s appointment and salary.
Dr. Sullivan led Merced County Public Health Department‘s response to the COVID-19 pandemic as the top lead epidemiologist, according to her LinkedIn profile. The county’s resolution on her appointment noted she has more than 10 years of professional experience in public health leadership and development.
She currently works as the program development director at the Central California Alliance for Health, where Merced County Supervisor Josh Pedrozo serves as a vice chair.
Dr. Sullivan earned her doctorate degree in quantitative psychology from UC Merced.
The county’s former public health director resigned last August after seven years on the job. The county subsequently launched its recruitment efforts for a new leader.
Dr. Sullivan will start the job on March 10.
