A woman who recently purchased a Power 10 Scratcher from a Save Mart in Merced won $1 million earlier this year.
According to a California Lottery news release, Annette Lopez had gone to the store to purchase items on Mother’s Day weekend, which also happened to be her sister’s birthday.
She decided to play, investing just $10, and couldn’t believe what she saw. “At first, I wasn’t sure I won. I had to get my glasses,” Lopez said in the release.
“When I looked at it again, I started tripping out. It was the best Mother’s Day!” she said.
Lopez said she had played the lottery previously, though not without some critics.
“People would always say, ‘I don’t know why you keep playing. You’re not going to win anything,’” Lopez said in the release.
